Senior Analyst Developer – Java, Payments – Permanent, Hybrid – Pretoria, South Africa

Senior Java developer building enterprise payments systems and APIs in a large-scale modernization program using Spring Boot, IBM MQ, and ISO 20022.

A global organisation are seeking an experienced Senior Analyst Developer to join a large-scale payments modernisation programme.

This position is ideal for a senior developer with strong experience in Java, enterprise application development, systems integration, and payment technologies, working across the full software development lifecycle.

This will be a permanent position worked on a hybrid basis in Pretoria, South Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse business requirements and produce functional and technical specifications.
  • Design, develop, test, and support enterprise Java applications.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and IBM MQ integrations.
  • Support system testing, defect resolution, deployments, and production releases.
  • Provide application support, incident resolution, and ongoing system maintenance.
  • Produce technical documentation and ensure compliance with SDLC and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with business, technical, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Skills Required:

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years' experience in enterprise Java development.
  • Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, JPA, JDBC, IBM MQ/JMS, REST APIs, and Microservices.
  • Experience with Angular, GitLab/CI-CD, Java EE/Jakarta EE, XML, XSD, and Linux/Unix environments.
  • Knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience within payments or financial services.
  • Knowledge of ISO 15022 and ISO 20022 messaging standards.
