Summary

Senior Analyst - Operational Intelligence at Qantas Group (Jetstar) transforms complex operational data into actionable insights using SQL, Python, and cloud platforms like Snowflake, supporting AI/LLM applications to drive operational performance and strategic decisions.

  • Shape the Future of Jetstar Operations and help drive the strategy that will define how we operate today and into the future.
  • Permanent full-time and fixed term opportunities available, based at our Jetstar Headquarters in Docklands.

As Senior Analyst, Operational Intelligence, you will play a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive operational performance, strategic decision-making and continuous improvement across the business. In this role you will:

  • Develop and deliver operational intelligence, turning complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Drive the evolution of operational reporting from retrospective analysis toward predictive and real-time decision support - building production-grade, self-service analytical tools that are version-controlled, documented and maintainable.
  • Build and maintain Jetstar's operational data governance framework and semantic layer, contributing to data standards, ownership definitions and a single source of truth that the broader Operations Delivery team depends on
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities across key performance metrics.
  • Provide analytical support for performance investigations, business initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Translate operational and commercial data into meaningful insights that optimise performance, manage risk and improve customer outcomes.
  • Support the introduction of AI and large language model applications into operational analytics - identifying use cases, testing approaches and helping embed AI-enabled insight into live operational processes

You will bring:

  • Experience in an airline operational environment, with a strong understanding of operational performance drivers and decision-making.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills with experience writing clean, well-documented code to automate data pipelines, build reliable data models and deliver analytical products that others can maintain and depend on.
  • Some exposure to predictive modelling or forecasting techniques is an advantage - you'll be working alongside operations research capability and supporting analytical work that moves beyond historical reporting.
  • Familiarity with AI and large language model tools and genuine curiosity about their application in operational environments.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as Snowflake or equivalent modern data environments.
  • The ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights that influence operational and commercial outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or a related quantitative discipline.
