Summary

Owns the dbt data platform at Genius AI in New York City: designing data models and metrics from product and customer data, partnering with product, marketing, sales, and finance teams, and using AI to automate testing and documentation across a Snowflake, dbt, Segment, Fivetran, and Airflow stack.

Genius AI is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own how data is modeled, defined, and trusted across the business. This role sits at the intersection of data and business, curating data to drive insights, strategy, and decision making. As our agentic products scale and our architecture evolves, the dbt project you design will set the standard for understanding customer behavior and powering AI-driven decisions. You will write the playbook, ship changes quickly, and challenge existing processes.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Own the architecture of the dbt project, including design patterns, modeling standards, and best practices to create efficient, effective data models leveraged across the business
  • Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to support new features and architectural changes by reviewing design docs, updating dbt models as data sources evolve, and validating metrics, reports, and downstream consumers
  • Work with business partners in Marketing, RevOps, Sales, and Finance to scope data requests, gather requirements, and design and build data solutions (rETLs, data models, metrics, reporting)
  • Build, refactor, and optimize dbt models that turn raw product and customer data into accurate, scalable datasets, connecting ideas across all data models and correcting quickly when needed
  • Use AI to build automated testing, documentation, and data workflows that scale and free your judgment for complex problems
  • Collaborate with data engineering to shape ingestion and transformation pipelines across Snowflake, dbt, Segment, Matia, Fivetran, and Airflow as we move toward a service-oriented architecture
  • Drive data privacy, governance, and quality standards to protect the integrity of customer data

You’re a great fit if you:

  • Have 5+ years of experience as an analytics engineer, data engineer, or reporting engineer, with 2+ years of hands-on dbt development
  • Have built AI-assisted workflows for modeling, testing, or documentation
  • Default to action, setting direction, shipping, and iterating quickly
  • Have advanced SQL proficiency and a track record of writing fast, readable models as data volume grows
  • Have hands-on experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and data warehousing concepts
  • Are familiar with our stack (Snowflake, dbt, Hex, Segment, Matia, Fivetran, Airflow) (preferred)

Total Compensation

Competitive salary and benefits.

Additional benefits include:

  • Competitive health & dental insurance options, effective on your first day
