Senior Android Developer — Contractor | U.S. Relocation | TN Visa Sponsorship

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Android Developer to join us as a contractor and be assigned to Long/Mid-term mobile development projects with U.S.-based clients.

This is not a traditional internal product team role. As a consultancy, we place experienced engineers in client projects where they collaborate closely with product, design, backend, QA, and engineering teams to build and maintain high-quality Android applications.

This position is ideal for senior Android engineers who can quickly integrate into client teams, take ownership of complex features, communicate effectively in English, and deliver reliable, scalable, production-ready mobile solutions.

Because this opportunity may include company-sponsored TN Visa support, Mexican citizenship is required.

Core Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications using modern Android technologies

* Own features end-to-end, from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support

* Build clean, maintainable, and scalable mobile architectures following Android best practices

* Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, QA, and U.S.-based engineering teams throughout the development process

* Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making

* Write clean, well-tested, and reusable Kotlin/Java code while maintaining legacy Java components when necessary

* Review code, provide constructive feedback, and mentor other Android developers

* Collaborate on API design and integration with backend teams

* Improve application performance, reliability, offline capabilities, and user experience

* Contribute to engineering initiatives including CI/CD, build improvements, testing strategies, and development standards

* Research, prototype, and evaluate new technologies that improve the product and development process

Required Technical & Professional Qualifications

* 6+ years of professional Android development experience

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)

* Strong expertise in Kotlin for modern Android development

* Experience working with Java and migrating or maintaining legacy Android codebases

* Deep understanding of the Android SDK and application lifecycles

* Solid experience implementing modern Android architectures such as MVVM, MVP, or MVI

* Experience building applications that consume RESTful/GraphQL APIs

* Strong knowledge of Android Jetpack libraries and modern development practices

* Strong experience with Jetpack Compose for modern Android UI development

* Strong experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous and reactive programming

* Experience working with modular Android architecture

* Strong understanding and practical experience with Clean Architecture

* Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger

* Experience with networking libraries such as Retrofit or Ktor Client

* Familiarity with JSON serialization libraries such as Gson, Jackson, or Kotlin Serialization

* Experience implementing unit testing and maintaining reliable test coverage

* Experience working with large-scale Android applications and shared codebases

* Knowledge of background processing, multithreading, offline storage, and performance optimization

* Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments

* Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written) — REQUIRED

* Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with international engineering teams

Nice-to-Have Skills

While not required, experience with the following is highly valued:

* CI/CD pipelines for Android applications

* Firebase services

* Automated UI testing

* Experience publishing applications to Google Play

* Mobile security best practices

* Performance profiling and optimization

* Experience working with distributed or international engineering teams
