Intellias is looking for a Senior Android Automotive Engineer to join an innovative automotive project focused on building a next-generation IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) media casting solution for a leading European car manufacturer.

You will join a highly skilled, collaborative team working on a cutting-edge Android Automotive OS (AOSP-based) platform, combining automotive-grade quality standards with modern software engineering practices.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a full-cycle development project starting from the early architectural design phase, influencing key technical decisions and shaping the future of in-car entertainment experiences.

About the project

The project focuses on developing media casting capabilities for Android Automotive, including technologies such as Google Cast and Apple AirPlay.

The team will work in a Scaled Agile environment following automotive industry best practices, with a strong focus on:

  • software quality,

  • technical excellence,

  • clean architecture,

  • scalable solutions.

The team is expected to grow to 10+ engineers.

Your responsibilities

  • Design and develop media casting software components for AOSP Android Automotive platform

  • Analyze and review Android Automotive source code

  • Optimize software components from architectural and algorithmic perspectives

  • Contribute to technical decisions and solution design

  • Participate in Scaled Agile ceremonies and engineering activities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders

What we are looking for

  • Strong experience with Kotlin development and Android application architecture

  • Solid knowledge of C++, memory management, and STL containers

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and API design principles

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Kotlin Coroutines and/or RxJava

    • multithreading, concurrency, race conditions, deadlocks

    • Android Studio and Gradle

    • Android HAL and Android system services

    • unit testing and debugging tools

  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (B2+)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Nice to have

  • Experience with Android Automotive OS architecture

  • Automotive software development experience

  • Knowledge of:

    • Git workflows and branching strategies

    • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub)

    • CMake/Make build systems

    • Python or Bash scripting

    • Docker/Kubernetes

    • Bug tracking tools (Jira, Bugzilla)

    • Technical documentation creation
