ABOUT YOUWe are looking for a Senior Android Engineer who is self-motivated, product-minded, and technically rigorous to join our Storefront Engineering team. The best candidate will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and exceptionally dynamic setting and is excited to build a high-quality, white-label Android game store from the ground up, tackling complex challenges in large-game distribution, download management, and multi-tenant theming.
If you’re passionate about creating high-performance, feature-rich consumer-facing applications and love solving the unique technical challenges of distributing and updating large-scale Android games, we would love to hear from you!
Responsibilities
-
Design, build, and maintain the Android client for the game store, using Kotlin + Jetpack Compose to deliver a modern, high-performance UI.
-
Implement core features: game browsing, categories, search and filtering, game detail pages, user accounts, game library, ratings and reviews.
-
Design and implement the game download, install, and update management module (resumable downloads, guided/silent installation, signature verification, version management).
-
Implement white-label theming and multi-channel build capabilities (via Gradle product flavors and/or runtime theme configuration) to support per-partner branding.
-
Optimize app performance (e.g. startup time), stability (e.g. crash rate), binary size, and memory usage.
-
Collaborate closely with product owner, designer, backend dev, and QA; contribute to technical design and code reviews.
-
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code; enforce coding standards and participate in peer code reviews.
Qualifications and Skills
-
Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 5+ years of native Android development experience.
-
Strong command of Kotlin, including coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming (or mastery of Java and its equivalents).
-
Proficient with Jetpack Compose for declarative UI development (traditional View/XML experience is a plus).
-
Familiar with Android Jetpack components (ViewModel, Lifecycle, Room, Navigation, Hilt) and MVVM/MVI architecture.
-
Familiar with common libraries: networking (Retrofit/OkHttp), image loading (Coil/Glide), and local storage.
-
Familiar with the Gradle build system, including white-label / multi-tenant / multi-flavor builds, signing, and version management.
-
Solid understanding of Android’s installation mechanisms, permission model, and behavioral changes across OS versions.
-
Solid engineering fundamentals: coding standards, unit testing, and version control (GitLab/GitHub).
-
Proficiency with AI coding tools to boost development productivity.
Nice to have
Understanding of the Chinese gaming industry, game app characteristics, and player needs.
Experience in game development, publishing, or operations on major Chinese gaming platforms.
Familiarity with the Android package structure exported by game engines such as Unity / Unreal (APK + OBB expansion files, large asset bundles).
Experience integrating game SDKs (account login, in-app purchases, ad monetization, analytics, real-name verification).
Note: Less experienced candidates could be considered as middle-level developers.
