Senior Android Framework Developer (Android Automotive - Audio & Media Experts)

The international Luxoft Automotive team is seeking experienced Android Framework Engineers specializing in Audio and Media domains to contribute to the development of next-generation In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems for electric vehicles. This role focuses on extending and customizing the Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) and Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) frameworks, particularly within the Audio, Media and Car Service layers. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience in the Android framework, Audio/Media stack development, and strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin. Knowledge of AAOS modules such as Car System UI, Car Launcher, User Profile and HMI development is a plus.
Responsibilities
- - Develop and enhance Android framework components related to Audio, Media, and Car Services within AAOS/AOSP. - Collaborate with system architects and feature teams to design, customize and integrate new media and audio features at the framework level. - Work closely with HMI and HAL teams to ensure seamless interaction between framework services and lower system layers. - Conduct performance tuning, stability improvements, and debugging framework-level modules. - Participate in code reviews, design documentation, and system-level testing. - Provide technical support and guidance for integration and validation teams.
SKILLS
Must have
- - 4-7 years of AOSP experience, with at least 3+ years of Android Framework development (AOSP/AAOS). - Strong understanding of Android Automotive Media Framework (AudioFlinger, MediaSession, AudioManager, Car Audio) and AAOS Audio architecture. - Strong hands-on experience in customization of Android Framework including Android Automotive Audio and Media Framework (Audio Flinger, Media FW, CarAudioManager, CarAudioConfiguration, Multi-zone audio). - Proficiency in Kotlin and Java for both app and framework layers. - Experience in Android System Services, Binder IPC, and multi-process communication. - Excellent debugging and profiling skills using adb, systrace, dumpsys, and logcat. - Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities in distributed team environments. - Experience in performance, audio optimization, or multi-zone media playback.
Nice to have
- Knowledge & hands-on experience of Vehicle Hal Implementation. - Hands-on experience with AAOS modules: Car System UI, Car Launcher, User Profile. - Hands-on experience in HMI Development. - Understanding vehicle integration, CAN-based communication, VHAL.
