Senior Android / Mobile Warehouse Apps Engineer

Our client is a global digital distributor of electronic components, building an internal engineering team to strengthen its warehouse and operations technology. This is a senior, hands-on role designing and maintaining the Android applications that power daily warehouse and field workflows — scanning, receiving, picking, packing, and inventory management.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain Android applications used in warehouse and operational environments
- Build reliable workflows for scanning, receiving, picking, packing, inventory, and image capture on ruggedized devices
- Integrate mobile apps with backend APIs and business-critical systems
- Design offline-capable workflows: local storage, sync logic, retries, and conflict handling
- Support ruggedized Android devices, barcode scanners, camera workflows, and app deployment
- Work with Product, QA, and backend teams to define requirements, API contracts, and test coverage
- Troubleshoot production issues including device-specific bugs, API failures, and sync errors
- Write clean, maintainable, testable code and contribute to code and design reviews
- Help define mobile engineering standards, release discipline, and monitoring practices across the team
Core Key Skills
- 5+ years of professional mobile development experience with strong hands-on Android
- Strong experience with Kotlin and/or Java, Android SDK, Android Studio, and Gradle
- Experience building production apps that integrate with REST APIs and backend systems
- Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX principles for operational, task-driven users
- Experience with offline-capable design, local storage, and synchronization patterns
- Experience troubleshooting mobile issues across devices, OS versions, and network conditions
- Practical understanding of mobile security, authentication, and secure data storage
- Experience with automated testing and release readiness for mobile applications- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with warehouse, logistics, or distribution center applications
- Experience with ruggedized Android devices (Zebra/Honeywell), barcode SDKs, or RFID
- Familiarity with Jetpack, MVVM, Room, WorkManager, Retrofit/OkHttp
- Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks (React Native/Flutter)
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and mobile CI/CD pipelines
