What's the Project?
Join the team that is building a high-impact clinical software solution designed to modernize real-time communication within busy healthcare environments. Developed as a high-performance interactive application for large-format displays, it replaces traditional dry-erase boards with dynamic, centralized patient data, shift schedules, and key operational insights. Candidates joining this project will tackle exciting engineering challenges at the intersection of complex UI/UX and robust device-level integration, and will collaborate with hardware/device partners to ensure the application seamlessly integrates with specialized display units and system-level permissions
- Develop, test, and maintain high-performance code for interactive large-format displays and bedside TV applications
- Collaborate with hardware partners to implement device-level capabilities, privileged app permissions, and custom OS integrations (such as remote resets and log capture)
- Evaluate technical tradeoffs (e.g., Privileged App vs. Device Owner strategies) and prototype solutions to inform core roadmap decisions
- Refine UI responsiveness, layout performance, and real-time data sync across complex touchscreens and digital display interfaces
- Participate in active sprint ceremonies, engage in peer code reviews, and work closely with product management and client engineering leads to execute on parallel technical tracks
- 5+ years of experience building production Android applications using modern architecture patterns (MVVM/MVI, Jetpack, Coroutines, Flow)
- Hands-on experience working with custom Android builds (AOSP), system apps, platform-signed certificates, or custom firmware configurations
- Experience implementing Privileged Apps, Device Owner configurations, Device Policy Manager APIs, remote factory resets, and system-level log capture
- MDM & Fleet Management: understanding of Mobile Device Management (MDM) protocols & enterprise deployment workflows for managed hardware fleets
- Proven capability interfacing directly with device OEMs/manufacturers to debug SDKs, system permissions, and hardware-software integration constraints
- Track record of driving technical research spikes, evaluating low-level architectural tradeoffs, and presenting clear recommendations to stakeholders
- Strong understanding of REST architecture & OOP principles/design
- Clear, confident verbal & written communication skills to collaborate directly with cross-functional product and engineering stakeholders
- Healthcare Domain Knowledge: familiarity with clinical environments, EHR integrations, or healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA)
