Senior backend developer on the internal tech team of a global container shipping company, building APIs, microservices and cloud-connected applications (C#/Java/Node.js/Python on Azure/AWS/GCP) while using AI coding tools. Permanent role in central Singapore paying S$7,000–9,000/month plus bonus.

Our client is an established global maritime organisation providing container feeder shipping services through an extensive international network. As the business continues to invest in digital transformation, the technology team is developing software products and automation solutions to improve operations and solve complex business challenges.
An additional opportunity is now available for a Senior Application Developer who enjoys hands-on engineering, takes ownership of delivery and actively explores better ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
Translate business requirements into practical, well-designed software solutions.
Design, develop and optimise backend applications, APIs, microservices and asynchronous processes.
Integrate applications and services using message queues and cloud technologies.
Collaborate with Product Owners and business users to understand workflows, clarify requirements and estimate development effort.
Prepare technical design documentation and contribute to design reviews, code reviews and technical decisions.
Develop and execute tests, identify risks and improve application quality, security and performance.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes that improve reliability.
Use AI coding tools responsibly to support development, testing, documentation and problem-solving.
Contribute ideas that improve products, engineering standards and delivery processes.
Key Requirements:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on application development experience, including web-based backend applications and web services.
Proficiency in C#, Java, Node.js, Python or SQL Server-based applications. Other programming backgrounds involving web service development may also be considered.
Experience with microservices, asynchronous processing and message queues, such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or SQS.
Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS or GCP, alongside working knowledge of modern deployment infrastructure.
Practical experience using AI coding tools, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams, with sound software engineering, design and optimisation practices.
Working knowledge of networking and information security concepts.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical matters to business stakeholders.
