Senior Application Engineer
Salary: ₱90,000 – ₱100,000 per month
We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer. You will play a key role in troubleshooting backend services, resolving workflow defects, optimizing database operations, and maintaining integrations with enterprise systems, including Loan Origination Systems (LOS).
This role combines software development, application maintenance, workflow automation, and production support in a banking technology environment. You will work closely with development, QA, business, infrastructure, and support teams to deliver reliable fixes and ensure seamless application performance throughout development, testing, deployment, and post-production monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
Application Development and Troubleshooting: Investigate, debug, and resolve defects in Python and FastAPI backend services, business rules, PostgreSQL operations, REST APIs, and enterprise integrations.
Workflow Automation: Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot n8n workflows involving webhooks, API calls, JavaScript code nodes, conditional routing, data transformations, and reusable sub-workflows.
Root Cause Analysis: Analyze application logs, n8n execution histories, API responses, and database queries to identify underlying issues and implement effective corrective actions.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Implement and validate fixes in Development (DEV), support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and conduct defect triage, retesting, and regression testing.
Deployment and Production Support: Support Docker image builds, Azure Container Registry (ACR), release promotions, environment configurations, production smoke testing, rollback procedures, and post-release hypercare.
Workflow Reliability and Recovery: Address workflow sequencing issues, retries, timeouts, duplicate processing, idempotency, error handling, and human-in-the-loop approval and resumption.
Database Management and Integration: Troubleshoot PostgreSQL queries, JSON/JSONB data, data integrity issues, SQLAlchemy operations, and database migrations while maintaining reliable enterprise integrations.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Maintain defect records, technical documentation, release notes, deployment guides, operational runbooks, and post-incident reports. Share technical knowledge with BPI development and support teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
At least 5 years of software engineering experience, preferably 5–7 years, with hands-on experience maintaining enterprise applications and resolving production defects.
Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI, including asynchronous programming, REST API development, Pydantic validation, exception handling, and enterprise API integrations.
Hands-on experience with n8n workflow automation, including workflow design, node configuration, expressions, JavaScript, JSON processing, webhooks, credentials, sub-workflows, and execution debugging.
Experience building reliable workflows using retries, error handling, idempotency, and recovery mechanisms for interrupted processing.
Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including JSON/JSONB, SQLAlchemy, database troubleshooting, and schema or data migrations.
Experience supporting applications across DEV, SIT, UAT, and PROD environments, including release management, deployment validation, configuration management, and rollback procedures.
Experience in production application support, incident triage, log monitoring, root cause analysis, and post-release hypercare.
Familiarity with Docker, Microsoft Azure, Azure Container Registry (ACR), Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing using pytest.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
