Senior Application Support Engineer - Java
We’re partnering with a leading financial services organisation to hire a Senior Application Support Engineer into a team supporting a large-scale digital wealth platform used by financial advisers to manage client portfolios, transactions and reporting.
This is not a traditional application support role.
The team is looking for an engineer who enjoys solving complex production problems, working across Java applications, microservices, APIs, logs, data and cloud infrastructure to understand what has gone wrong, identify the root cause and improve the system so the same issue is less likely to happen again.
You’ll work closely with engineering, product and support teams, taking ownership of incidents from initial investigation through to resolution.
What you’ll be doing
The platform operates across modern Java, cloud, APIs and microservices, with applications currently running on Java 21 and Java 25.
AI is also embedded into the way the team works. Engineers use Claude Code alongside Sumo Logic, Dynatrace, GKE, Jira and internal tooling to assist with areas such as log analysis, triage and incident investigation.
There is no on-call roster or regular after-hours rotation, although additional support may occasionally be required during significant production incidents.
What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally come from an application support, production engineering, SRE or software engineering background where you have been responsible for diagnosing complex production issues.
You should have:
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the code but is particularly motivated by debugging, production reliability, incident investigation and solving difficult technical problems rather than purely feature development.
Permanent - $180,000 - $230,000 package plus annual bonus. 3 days in the office per week.
