Position Overview

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a results-oriented Area Operations Manager to lead and optimize operations across multiple sites within a designated region. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, fostering a strong safety culture, developing high-performing teams, ensuring the efficient production and delivery of quality products, and assisting in the development of annual budgets while maintaining responsibility for area financial performance and profit-and-loss results.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead area operations to achieve safety, production, quality, environmental, financial, and customer service objectives across multiple locations.
  • Develop annual operating budgets, monitor financial performance, and maintain accountability for area P&L results while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, reliability, and cost management.
  • Coach, develop, and support site leadership teams to build a culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and safety expectations while supporting sustainable business practices.

What Are We Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead multiple operations while delivering strong safety, operational, and financial performance.
  • Strong business acumen with proven capability to manage budgets, analyze performance metrics, and drive profitable results.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, aggregates, construction materials, mining, or heavy industrial operations with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and develop teams at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands, solve complex business challenges, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.

Work Environment

  • Frequent travel to operational sites within the assigned area.
  • Combination of office, plant, quarry, and field environments.
  • Regular interaction with employees, customers, contractors, vendors, and business leaders.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, industrial equipment, and production environments while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
