emagine is hiring a Senior ASR Engineer for a 6-month (extendable), fully remote project in Germany. The person works in an ASR R&D team: evaluating and tuning speech recognition models, optimizing and clustering training data, and improving multilingual ASR accuracy using machine learning, Python/shell scripting, and Linux/Windows tooling.
We, the emagine, are seeking a Senior ASR Engineer (m/w/d) to join our ASR R&D team and engage in cutting-edge research. This role integrates both research and development, necessitating a strong passion for innovation and hands-on expertise in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), machine learning, and language technologies.
Project Details:
Duration: 6 months with potential for extension
Fully remote, start date: as soon as possible
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct experiments to assess the quality of ASR models and analyze the impact of various parameter tuning on speech recognition accuracy.
Identify, optimize, and cluster training data.
Analyze product usage data to determine potential improvements in ASR processes, methods, and techniques.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver high-quality results.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in the field and strive to enhance ASR performance across multiple languages.
Your Profile:
Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in computer science, computational linguistics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Background in speech technology, computational linguistics, machine translation, and/or natural language processing.
Extensive knowledge and practical experience with end-to-end Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and language modeling techniques.
Solid understanding of machine learning principles, algorithms, and statistical methods.
Proficient software engineering skills, with knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Python) and experience working with both Linux and Windows platforms.
Excellent critical and creative problem-solving abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and fine-tuning.
Expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, information retrieval, deep learning, or data mining.
Fluent in at least one other non-English language.
