Here’s what you’ll be up to…

• You will lead the strategic planning and whole-of-life management of Council’s building portfolio, helping ensure our assets remain safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for purpose for our growing community.
• Plan and prioritise capital works, asset renewals and scheduled maintenance programs.
• Develop and implement asset management strategies that improve long-term performance and investment decisions.
• Manage compliance obligations across building legislation, essential services, fire safety and the Building Code of Australia.
• Use asset data and performance insights to guide funding priorities, risk management and long-term planning.
• Provide expert advice on asset lifecycle management, sustainability and investment planning.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to improve asset performance and service outcomes.
• Develop governance frameworks, standards and processes that support best-practice asset management.

What are we looking for?

• A strategic and solutions-focused asset management professional with strong technical expertise in building assets and compliance.
• Someone experienced in strategic asset planning, asset management plans and long-term investment strategies.
• A confident communicator who can negotiate, collaborate and influence across a complex organisation.
• A practical leader who can work independently, meet timeframes and turn asset data into clear priorities and outcomes.

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Building Services or a related discipline
• Extensive knowledge of building compliance legislation and applicable Australian Standards including a thorough understanding of essential services, fire services, essential fire safety measures, Annual Fire safety Statements and equipment (FIP, EWIS)
• Extensive experience in strategic asset planning and preparation of assets management plans and strategies
• Effective communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills coupled with a collaborative and influential management style
• Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision
• Demonstrated ability to work within timeframes and achieve established performance
  standards
• Current Class C Driver Licence

Desirable

• Previous local government experience
• Demonstrated experience in incorporating sustainability in asset planning
