Job Summary

The Senior Associate, Marketing, Events & Communications leads AFC’s events and strategic engagement function end-to-end. The role owns the planning and delivery of the Corporation’s convened and third-party events, sponsorships and protocol, ensuring every engagement strengthens AFC’s brand, deepens stakeholder relationships and advances its strategic priorities. The role is responsible for events strategy, flawless delivery, event communications and marketing, and post-event impact and works closely with media relations, digital and the wider marketing function to maximize the visibility and reach of AFC’s engagements across African and global markets.


Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities

1. Events Strategy & Planning

· Develop and implement AFC’s events strategy in support of institutional priorities, including stakeholder engagement, investment promotion, thought leadership and brand visibility.

· Maintain a coordinated annual events calendar aligned with the Corporation’s strategic communications and marketing objectives.

· Lead concept development and agenda design for AFC-convened events, ensuring each delivers a clear strategic purpose and measurable outcomes.

2. Event Delivery & Management

· Plan and deliver high-profile AFC-convened and third-party events end-to-end, including annual general meetings and shareholder convenings, high-level forums and roundtables, ministerial and bilateral engagements, and executive and staff events.

· Coordinate end to end event execution such as logistics, speaker coordination, run-of-show, production and on-site management to a consistently high standard.

· Manage relationships with external vendors, venues, production partners and event agencies to ensure professional, high-quality delivery.

· Support budget planning, vendor pricing negotiations and financial oversight for events, ensuring value for money and disciplined cost control.

· Lead post-event reporting, capturing participation, outcomes and lessons learned to inform and improve future events.


3. Sponsorships & Strategic Partnerships

· Identify, evaluate and manage conference sponsorships, speaking opportunities and strategic event partnerships that raise AFC’s profile and position its leadership.

· Negotiate sponsorship terms and track return on investment to ensure engagements deliver tangible strategic and reputational value.


4. Protocol & Executive Engagement

· Manage protocol and stakeholder engagement around events, including invitations, guest lists, VVIP coordination and relationship management with government officials, partners and industry leaders.

· Coordinate senior leadership participation in events, including speaker management, executive logistics and pre-event preparation.


5. Event Communications & Marketing

· Oversee the development of event materials, including invitations, programs, speaker briefs, stage scripts, branding assets and on-site signage, in line with AFC’s brand guidelines.

· Prepare briefing notes, talking points, moderator guidance and run-of-show documents for senior leadership participating in events.

· Develop and deliver marketing campaigns to promote AFC’s events and convenings, driving attendance, engagement and visibility.


6. Integration, Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

· Ensure strong coordination between events, media relations and digital communications to maximize visibility and extend the reach of AFC’s events across media and digital platforms.

· Tailor messaging and engagement for diverse audiences, including institutional investors, government agencies, partners and community stakeholders.


7. Broader Marketing & Communications Support

· Support AFC’s wider marketing campaigns and brand-visibility initiatives, ensuring consistency with the Corporation’s positioning and messaging.

· Contribute to the drafting of event-related communications, including press materials and thought leadership tied to AFC’s engagements.




Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Events Management, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years' experience in events management, strategic engagement, communications, or related roles.
  • Experience within finance, infrastructure, development finance, or related sectors is preferred.
  • Professional certifications in Events Management and/or Project Management would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in French or other languages relevant to AFC's markets would be an advantage.
