Senior Attorney / Partner
About the company
Our client is a law firm.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take charge of launching pooled investment vehicles for clients, from early structuring through final close, while helping expand a growing practice at a small firm. The work is largely independent, with regular collaboration alongside colleagues in transactional and lending areas, and room to influence the practice's direction.
What you'll do
- Run the launch of new pooled investment vehicles on your own, from first structuring discussions to final close.
- Absorb work from an existing client roster that currently exceeds available capacity.
- Advise managers and institutional capital providers on structure, governance and regulatory questions.
- Partner with colleagues in corporate, lending and international practices on matters that cross disciplines.
- Contribute to the long-term strategy and growth plans for the practice.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Roughly 10 to 15+ years of experience in this area of law, gained at a large or mid-sized firm, including a big law background through at least a senior attorney level.
- Senior attorney level or above, since the firm cannot provide core skills training for junior lawyers.
- Technical excellence and the ability to carry a launch through to completion with minimal oversight, across several vehicle types.
- Strong drafting and negotiating skills for the core partnership, investor subscription and side agreement documents.
- J.D. and admission to at least one U.S. state bar, with New York preferred.
- No more than about one year of in-house experience.
- A stable career history, generally 4+ years with each previous firm.
- A self-directed, entrepreneurial approach that works well without heavy infrastructure or a large support team.
- Deep expertise in one area plus the breadth to work across several practices.
- A collegial, low-ego working style.
- Ideally, comfort handling both vehicle launches and company investment transactions, including familiarity with standard venture documents.
Bonus points
- Background with impact-oriented or development-focused investment structures.
- Exposure to offshore structures and multi-jurisdiction capital raising.
- One or two existing client relationships, although a portable book of business is not needed.
- A genuine interest in impact-driven work.
