Senior Aviation Planner
Summary
Senior Aviation Planner designs airfield infrastructure and operational plans for airports, using simulation tools like CAST Airside and AirTOP to optimize capacity, safety, and regulatory compliance.
The Aviation Planner is responsible for the strategic and operational planning of airfield infrastructure and activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant airport operations. This role involves close coordination with various airport stakeholders including air traffic control, airlines, ground handling, maintenance, and project teams to ensure effective allocation and use of airfield resources. The planner supports short, medium, and long-term planning aligned with regulatory, environmental, and capacity requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead / Coordinate the development of airport master plans and phasing plans to ensure the short-term and long-term aviation requirements
- Traffic forecast analysis / review and Capacity analysis
- Lead / Coordinate with other airport experts (environment, building, security, etc.) to provide planning support to design studies
- Develop and maintain airfield operational plans covering runways, taxiways, aprons, stands, and support areas
- Analyze and forecast aircraft movements to determine capacity requirements and optimize stand allocation, GSE operations, etc.
- Airfield and Apron Planning and Stand Optimization
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for Airfield projects; Terminal and Landside would be an added advantage
- Liaise with engineering & project teams to provide operational input during design and construction phases & to ensure that all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations are followed, that current techniques are utilized, and that quality is acceptable
- Support sustainability initiatives in airfield operations, including emissions and fuel efficiency planning
- Performance sizing (runway length, RET, etc.)
- Aeronautical studies / obstacles assessment
- Approach / Departure procedures analysis (PANS OPS/TERPS)
- Aircraft related performance studies
- Perform dynamic Airside simulations with simulation softwares such as CAST Airside, AirTOP, etc.
- Develop the airside simulation activity with other Experts
