Build, Lead and Deliver Enterprise AI Solutions

We're partnering with a major organisation in the Energy sector undertaking an ambitious AI transformation program, embedding Generative AI, Agentic AI and intelligent automation across its operations.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Azure AI Engineer who can take ownership of complex AI engineering challenges, influence technical direction and deliver robust, scalable AI solutions in an enterprise environment.

This isn't a role for someone who simply wants to experiment with AI or produce another proof of concept that never sees daylight.

We're looking for an accomplished engineer who understands what it takes to move AI solutions from concept through to production, balancing innovation with security, governance, performance and commercial outcomes.

You'll join a dedicated AI delivery team responsible for developing and deploying a significant pipeline of AI use cases over a long term transformation program.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Azure AI Engineer, you'll play a key technical role in the design, development and deployment of enterprise AI solutions.

Working alongside architects, engineers and business stakeholders, you'll help establish engineering standards, develop reusable AI capabilities and ensure solutions are production ready.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the technical design and hands-on development of sophisticated AI agents and multi-agent solutions using Azure AI Foundry.
• Designing and implementing agent orchestration frameworks, including agent-to-agent communication and complex workflow management.
• Developing scalable, modular and reusable AI components that can support multiple enterprise use cases.
• Engineering intelligent automation solutions using Azure Logic Apps, Durable Workflows and Power Automate.
• Building and integrating Generative AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, large language models, RAG architectures and enterprise data platforms.
• Establishing robust AI evaluation, testing, monitoring and validation frameworks, including TEVV methodologies.
• Implementing enterprise AI governance, security controls, guardrails and responsible AI practices.
• Supporting AI red teaming, risk assessments and model performance optimisation.
• Working closely with architects and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into technically sound AI solutions.
• Providing technical guidance, code reviews and mentoring to other engineers.
• Contributing to engineering standards, CI/CD practices and deployment strategies for enterprise AI solutions.
• Identifying opportunities to improve solution performance, reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.

About You

We're looking for a technically accomplished AI Engineer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with substantial practical experience delivering AI solutions.

You'll be comfortable taking technical ownership, challenging design decisions and working independently to solve complex engineering problems.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and delivering enterprise applications.
• 3+ years of hands-on AI, machine learning or Generative AI engineering experience, with recent exposure to agentic AI solutions.
• Demonstrated experience delivering AI applications into production within complex enterprise environments.
• Advanced practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure AI services, particularly Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI.
• Strong experience designing agentic AI solutions, orchestration frameworks and intelligent automation workflows.
• Advanced Python development skills and a solid understanding of modern software engineering principles.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities with enterprise systems, APIs, data platforms and business applications.
• Strong understanding of AI security, governance, evaluation and operational monitoring.
• Proven ability to work with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, communicate architectural decisions and influence solution design.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering best practices.

You'll be someone who enjoys remaining close to the technology while taking responsibility for the quality and success of the solutions being delivered.

We're particularly interested in candidates with strong commercial experience across several of the following technologies and disciplines.

AI Engineering and Agentic Frameworks

• Azure AI Foundry, including AI Agents, orchestration and governance
• Azure OpenAI and large language model integration
• Microsoft AutoGen, Semantic Kernel or comparable agentic AI frameworks
• Multi-agent systems, tool calling and agent-to-agent communication
• Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases and prompt engineering

Cloud Engineering and Automation

• Azure Logic Apps and Durable Workflows
• Power Automate and enterprise workflow orchestration
• Azure Functions, APIs and cloud-native integration patterns
• Python, Git and modern software development practices
• Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment
• Docker and containerised application development

Data, Governance and Production AI

• Databricks and enterprise data integration (highly desirable)
• AI evaluation frameworks, including TEVV
• AI red teaming, responsible AI and model validation
• AI observability, monitoring and performance optimisation
• Security, access controls and enterprise AI governance
• Reusable and modular AI architecture patterns

Experience delivering AI solutions in regulated, enterprise or customer-facing environments will be particularly valuable.
