Senior Azure Data Platform Engineer – Remote Spain/Portugal – Contract

Location: Fully remote from Spain and Portugal

Duration: 12 months initially

We are looking for an experienced Senior Azure Data Platform Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable data platform solutions within a Microsoft Azure environment.

This position combines hands-on data engineering with platform infrastructure, automation, security, monitoring and performance optimisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and implement scalable Azure data platform solutions.
• Build and maintain solutions using Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
• Automate cloud infrastructure and platform deployments using Terraform.
• Configure and optimise cloud-based data storage and processing solutions.
• Support Azure networking, security, access management and platform availability.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise platform performance.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions.
• Follow Agile, DevOps, security and compliance best practices.

Requirements

• At least five years of professional data engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage.
• Strong production experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code.
• Strong Python, SQL and Spark knowledge.
• Experience designing and building complete Azure data platform solutions.
• Good understanding of Azure storage, networking, security and identity management.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting production data platforms.

Nice to Have

• Azure DevOps and CI/CD experience.
• Experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
• Consulting or client-facing experience.
