Senior Back End Engineer (Java)

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join a cross-functional team working on an enterprise B2B platform that enables capabilities for both internal and external clients.
The platform serves as a shared foundation for multiple digital products, services, and integrations, connecting internal systems with customer-facing applications and external solutions.
The client is a global technology and infrastructure company operating at enterprise scale across multiple regions.
The cross-functional team of 12+ people includes Backend and Frontend Engineers, QA Engineers, DevOps Engineers, a Solution Architect, UI/UX Designer, Engineering Manager, and Business Analyst.
Tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, API Gateway, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, Kubernetes, Azure, Git, CI/CD, GitOps, Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience with Java and strong experience with Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with microservices, distributed systems, and API-first design.
• Proficiency in designing and developing REST APIs and working with OpenAPI.
• Good understanding of authentication and authorization, including OAuth2/OIDC and JWT.
• Experience with API Gateway patterns and enterprise integrations.
• Experience with cloud-native environments, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Solid understanding of security, scalability, resilience, and observability.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work across multiple interconnected systems.
• Ability to translate business and integration requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills and English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and shared platform capabilities.
• Take end-to-end ownership of features, from understanding requirements and technical design through implementation, testing, release, and production support.
• Participate in solution design and technical decision-making within owned areas.
• Proactively identify technical risks, dependencies, edge cases, and potential improvements.
• Collaborate with Backend, Frontend, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and Business teams.
• Develop and support integrations with internal and external systems.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous platform improvements.
• Use monitoring and observability tools to investigate issues and maintain service reliability.
• Work with a high level of autonomy and ownership, driving work to a complete and reliable outcome rather than focusing only on implementation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring Cloud and API Gateway solutions.
• Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform.
• Familiarity with GitOps and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, or similar observability technologies.
• Understanding of API governance and lifecycle management.
• Experience with identity and access management or enterprise SSO.
• Experience building shared platforms or capabilities consumed by multiple products and teams.
