Senior backend developer building and maintaining enterprise money-movement APIs for banking systems using Java, Spring Boot, and SQL Server, with Postman REST testing and migration of on-prem services to Azure. 12–18 month contract, hybrid (4 days onsite) in Buffalo, NY, W2 through Lighthouse Technology Services.
Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Senior Backend API Developer position! This is a 12-18 month contract opportunity and will be hybrid in Buffalo, NY with 4 days on-site.
This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop and maintain enterprise APIs that enable money movement applications across banking systems
- Build and support API integrations with mainframes and external banks via ACH protocols
- Lead migration efforts moving on-premise services and infrastructure to Azure cloud environment
- Support production systems through troubleshooting, defect resolution, and performance optimization
- Implement incremental functionality and enhancements to existing backend API codebase
- Conduct integration testing and REST API testing using Postman to ensure reliability
- Query and troubleshoot SQL Server transaction databases to verify and debug money movement flows
- Collaborate with Money Movement team, job scheduling teams, and downstream account service groups
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of API architecture
What You'll Need to Have:
- 5+ years as a Senior Backend Developer with proven REST API design and implementation experience
- Strong proficiency in Java development at an intermediate to expert level
- Solid experience building APIs with Spring Boot framework
- Intermediate-level SQL Server skills including querying, testing, and troubleshooting transaction data
- Demonstrated expertise testing REST APIs with Postman for validation and integration scenarios
- Strong integration testing experience across complex, multi-system environments
- Experience with Azure cloud platform (highly preferred for this migration-focused role)
- Background in banking or financial services environments (strong advantage but not required)
Pay Range: $70-77+/hr
