Job Overview

A Senior Backend Developer is required in Riyadh to support the digital transformation initiatives of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP). The role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, cloud-native backend services supporting intellectual property platforms, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, enforcement, beneficiary services, and AI-enabled examination solutions.

The successful candidate will work extensively with enterprise applications, microservices, REST APIs, databases, government platform integrations, payment services, digital identity systems, document management systems, and AI services. The position requires strong expertise in backend architecture, application security, enterprise integration, DevSecOps, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure backend applications and microservices.
• Develop services for applicant management, registration, case processing, examination workflows, payments, search, and AI orchestration.
• Design and maintain secure REST APIs using OpenAPI standards, API versioning, and rate limiting.
• Implement complex business logic, validations, workflows, approvals, SLAs, and audit trails.
• Design and optimize databases, queries, and data migration processes.
• Integrate backend services with government platforms and enterprise systems.
• Integrate digital identity, payment gateways, document management systems, and AI services.
• Implement security controls using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, RBAC, and ABAC.
• Apply OWASP security practices and secure software development principles.
• Optimize application performance through caching, asynchronous processing, and load balancing.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments using DevSecOps practices.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and API testing frameworks.
• Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Provide Level 3 production support, including root cause analysis, hotfixes, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
• Ensure backend solutions comply with applicable SAIP EA, DGA standards, and SSDLC requirements.
• Collaborate with technical, business, security, and project stakeholders in an Agile environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with enterprise applications, microservices, and APIs.
• Strong experience with enterprise integration and cloud-native development.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong understanding of REST API design and backend architecture.
• Experience with application security and secure software development practices.
• Knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, RBAC, and ABAC.
• Experience with CI/CD, containerized deployments, and DevSecOps.
• Strong database design and query optimization capabilities.
• Experience with automated unit, integration, and API testing.
• Strong troubleshooting and production-support capabilities.
