Senior Backend Developer (m/f/d) C# & Python HoloMedicine Platform
Summary
Senior Backend Developer builds and maintains C#/.NET and Python services for a certified medical XR platform, handling imaging pipelines, real-time streaming, and clinical workflows in a regulated healthcare environment.
apoQlar builds Mixed and Augmented Reality software for medicine with the HoloMedicine® platform – a certified medical device (EU MDR, IEC 62304, ISO 13485). Behind the spatial experience on the headset sits a backend that ingests medical imaging, orchestrates clinical workflows and streams data to XR devices in real time. We are a small, focused team working directly with clinics and partners such as the Mayo Clinic.
Location: Hamburg/Hybrid or Poznan/Hybrid
Responsibilities
As Senior Backend Developer you own the services that power HoloMedicine® behind the scenes: imaging pipelines, clinical orchestration (e.g. our Tumor Board management plane), real-time streaming and the platform APIs that XR clients depend on. You write production‑grade C# and Python, make sound architectural calls, and keep everything traceable and release‑ready in a regulated environment – working closely with XR engineering, clinical stakeholders and Quality/Regulatory.
- Design, build and operate backend services in C# / .NET and Python – APIs, data pipelines and integration services
- Work on medical imaging backends: DICOM / DICOMweb, NIFTI handling
- Support real‑time data flows to XR clients – reliability, latency and session stability
- Containerize and ship via Docker / Kubernetes, including workflow orchestration (e.g. Argo Workflows) and CI/CD
- Build for observability and security from day one: structured logging/metrics (Grafana / Prometheus / Loki), SBOM/SOUP hygiene (Dependency‑Track, Trivy, CycloneDX)
- Keep work compatible with MDR / IEC 62304 / ISO 13485 – requirements, risk linkage and traceability, in alignment with Quality/Regulatory
- Review code, mentor peers and help shape backend architecture and engineering standards
Requirements
Must‑have
- Several years' professional experience building backend services in C# / .NET, plus solid working command of Python
- Strong grasp of API design, distributed systems and data modeling – you can reason about architecture, trade‑offs and performance as a peer
- Hands‑on with containers and cloud (Docker, Kubernetes; Cloud a plus)
- Comfortable with relational and/or document databases, async messaging and integration patterns
- Pragmatic about testing, CI/CD and code quality
- Knowledge of medical imaging / DICOM / DICOMweb / FHIR / NIFTI
- Fluent in English; German is a plus
Nice‑to‑have
- Experience with regulated medical software (EU MDR, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971)
- Real‑time media / streaming experience (WebRTC, TURN/ICE)
- Familiarity with observability stacks (Grafana/Prometheus/Loki) and SBOM/security tooling (Dependency‑Track, Trivy, CycloneDX)
- Exposure to XR/AR/VR platforms or a clinical environment
