Senior Backend Developer (.NET)
Summary
Senior Backend Developer in Oeiras, Portugal (hybrid, 3 days/week on-site) building and maintaining Emotion Mobility's web applications, APIs, and backend services using C#/.NET, REST APIs, and relational SQL databases, working across the full SDLC in an Agile/Scrum team.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join the Engineering team and contribute to the development and maintenance of Emotion Mobility's web applications, APIs, and backend services.
You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from system design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Code quality, security, maintainability, and engineering best practices are central to the role.
You will report directly to the Engineering Director.
The role is based in Oeiras, Portugal, with a hybrid working model requiring 3 days per week in the office.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using C# and .NET.
- Build, integrate, and optimize RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Participate in architecture and system design discussions.
- Conduct code reviews and help maintain high engineering and security standards.
- Design and work with relational SQL databases, with a focus on integrity and performance.
- Apply modern engineering practices including Dependency Injection and clean code principles.
- Participate in the full development lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide ongoing application support.
- Manage source code and development workflows using Git.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum environment and contribute to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET.
- Strong experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Practical experience with Dependency Injection.
- Solid experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Strong understanding of Git and version control best practices.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development teams.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Ability to work from the Oeiras office 3 days per week.
- Existing right to work in Portugal.
- Experience with Playwright, particularly reviewing and validating automated tests.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and SOLID principles.
- Experience with ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework or Dapper.
- Familiarity with AI technologies and AI-enabled development solutions.
This is a standard employment contract. Contractor and freelance arrangements are not available.

- Annual base salary: €58,500
- Annual meal allowance: €2,468.40
- Additional boost: 5%
- Total annual employee package: €63,893.40
