Senior Backend/DevOps Engineer at a technically ambitious Healthcare AI software company in the Netherlands, building and operating backend services and infrastructure with TypeScript, Python, GCP and Azure. Day to day spans Linux systems, on-premise and cloud platform reliability, automation and observability for demanding workloads.
Salary is DOE - budgets of around €75,000 - €100,000.
We’re working with a technically ambitious Healthcare AI software company that is building and operating complex infrastructure at scale. They’re looking for a Senior Backend / DevOps Engineer who enjoys working close to the infrastructure, solving technically difficult problems, and having genuine ownership over how systems are built and operated.
This is a role for someone who is comfortable moving between software engineering, Linux, infrastructure and platform engineering - rather than someone focused purely on traditional DevOps tooling.
The role
You’ll work across the backend and infrastructure stack, helping build reliable platforms that support demanding workloads.
You’ll be involved in:
- Building and maintaining backend services and infrastructure - Typescript/Python/GCP/Azure
- Designing and improving Linux-based systems and environments
- Working with on-premise infrastructure alongside cloud technologies
- Taking ownership of platform reliability, scalability and performance
- Improving deployment, automation, observability and operational processes
What we're looking for
We’re particularly interested in engineers who have a strong software engineering foundation with Typescript and Python, alongside substantial infrastructure experience.
You’ll ideally have:
- Broader programming experience in one or more additional languages
- Strong knowledge of Linux
- Experience working with on-premise infrastructure
- Experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or SRE
- A good understanding of networking, systems and infrastructure
- Experience building or operating production systems
- A strong approach to automation and engineering quality
- The ability to investigate problems across the application and infrastructure layers
Highly valued skills:
Experience with GPU infrastructure / GPU servers would be particularly interesting.
You don't necessarily need to have worked specifically with GPUs, but experience with high-performance computing, demanding workloads, large-scale infrastructure or hardware-level troubleshooting would also be relevant.
