The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Xebia, you'll be embedded in client teams, designing and building high-quality systems from the ground up. You'll have strong opinions on how software should be built: and you'll use them.
What you'll work on
- Backend services built to last: clean, tested, maintainable
- Distributed systems and event-driven architectures
- Code and architecture reviews that actually raise the bar
- Introducing engineering best practices where they're missing
- AI integrations where they genuinely add value
What you bring
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience
- Deep experience with Kotlin, Java, Scala, or Go
- Strong opinions on testing, clean code, and continuous delivery
- Familiarity with AI tools and LLMs
- The ability to communicate clearly with both engineers and stakeholders
- Currently based in the Netherlands
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, AWS, GCP)
- Open source contributions or active side projects
