Your job: Senior Backend EngineerAmsterdam

As a Senior Backend Engineer Amsterdam, you'llhelp build and operate the systems that form the core of the platform. You'llwork on software where availability, reliability and correctness aredaily engineering concerns rather than architectural buzzwords.

The systems you help build processbillions of euros in transaction volume every year, which means every technicaldecision has consequences.

• How do you ensuresystems remain available when dependencies fail?
• How do you preventduplicate processing?
• How do you improveobservability?
• How do you scalesafely as transaction volumes continue to grow?

These are the kinds of problems you'llhelp solve.

You'll get ownership of servicesthroughout their entire lifecycle, from design and implementation todeployment, monitoring and continuous improvement in production. You'llwork closely with highly experienced engineers who have built and operatedlarge-scale systems before, giving you the opportunity to further sharpen yourown engineering judgement while contributing your experience to the team.

What is required?

• 5+ yearsof experience as a Backend Software Engineer
• Experience designing,building and operating production systems
• Experiencewith distributed systems, asynchronous processing or event-drivenarchitectures
• Experience owningservices throughout their lifecycle
• Experience operatingbusiness-critical systems in production
• Experiencewith production incidents, operational responsibility or on-callenvironments
• Experiencewith TypeScript, Node.js, Java, Kotlin, Go or similar backendtechnologies
• Experienceworking in cloud-native environments, preferably AWS
• Strongunderstanding of reliability, observability, testing and scalability
• Strongcommunication skills
• Acollaborative, low-ego mindset
• Genuineinterest in mentoring engineers and helping teams improve

Nice to have, but not required:

• Experiencein payments is valuable, but not required. Whatmatters most is that you have operated systems where failure, inconsistency ordowntime had real business impact.
• Experienceoperating high-availability systems at scale
