Senior Backend Engineer - APIs & Integration

Build and maintain the WSO2 API platform on Kubernetes in AWS, automating deployments and enabling teams to ship secure, customer-friendly APIs.
Overview
APIs are the backbone of engineering. At Api Squad of NN we aim to deliver a robust, secure, and customer-friendly API Platform. We are looking for a skilled API DevOps Engineer to join our team. The platform uses WSO2 API Platform deployed via Kubernetes on AWS cloud.
Responsibilities
- Provision, maintain and improve the WSO2 platform.
- Enable the business to focus on value‑adding work by developing microservices, managing the platform, and building managed pipelines.
- Work with API platforms and understand the lifecycle of API Management.
- Apply modern software engineering practices with a focus on DevOps, shift-left, test automation, and reliability engineering.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience with Java.
- Experience with Kubernetes; CKAD certification is a plus.
- Experience with API management platforms such as WSO2, Kong, MuleSoft or similar (big plus).
- Solid AWS cloud knowledge and experience (Networking, PaaS, IaaS, IAM).
- Experience with GitOps deployment management.
- Nice to have: Python knowledge.
- Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) or Terraform.
- Strong communication (English), analytical and collaboration skills; ability to work well in a team; problem-solving and attention to detail; time management and prioritization abilities.
Who you will work with
You will be part of the API Squad within NN's Engineering Experience & Platforms domain. The team emphasizes an energetic, collaborative culture with engineers, product teams, and cross‑functional partners. The team typically includes 10+ engineers, a product owner and an engineering manager, delivering high‑quality API tools and platform.

- Salary between €4,547 and €6,496 per month for 40 hours, depending on knowledge and experience.
