Senior Backend Engineer
Summary
Senior Backend Engineer builds and maintains scalable .NET/C# services and APIs for ECCO’s global ecommerce platforms, using Azure, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and operating the backend services that power our innovative globally available frontends (web, native mobile apps, etc.) and underlying processing systems. This role requires a strong understanding of software engineering best practices across the entire Software Development Lifecycle, ensuring the stability, scalability, and reliability of our backend.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop reliable, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs.
- Contribute to solution architecture to ensure business alignment, ease of development and maintenance.
- Continuously improve developer experience through high coding standards and optimized ways of working.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines to build, test, and deploy backend services reliably and efficiently.
- Manage cloud infrastructure to ensure smooth operation of backend systems.
- Collaborate closely within a cross-functional team to deliver high quality technical solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of backend development experience with strong focus on .NET in C#.
- Proven experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD technologies.
- Proven experience with building ecommerce solutions for either B2B or B2C.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices.
- Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code and ideally hands on experience with Terraform.
- Proficiency in managing Azure Cloud infrastructure, deploying, and operating backend services.
- Experience using observability tools (e.g., Datadog).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Experience working within Agile development methodologies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, high attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Proactive, pragmatic and solution oriented mindset; adaptable to diverse business environments.
