Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Hanoi,Hanoi,Vietnam
Tutor Universe is a Silicon Valley based venture backed startup and a portfolio company of Peter Relan's Studio 9+ Incubator. Companies from this incubator have achieved over $200M in venture financing and exits. We are developing a marketplace for knowledge sharing on mobile that disrupts how studying and getting tutoring works. Think of it as "Uber of Study Help!" We are seeing amazing traction and engagement with our app GotIt! And now we are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our platform team in Hanoi, Vietnam to build a scalable system serving millions of users around the world.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop REST APIs to support our mobile client.
- Design and develop new features of backend services
- Work closely with the client app team and product design team to iterate quickly on new features and experiments
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Deep knowledge of client server communication protocols (REST, HTTP, JSON, XML)
- Experience designing and developing RESTful web services for mobile apps
- Experience in designing and developing scalable Backend components
- Experience with Amazon Web Services or similar cloud based server system
- Experience working with metrics driven objectives
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- 5+ years of experience with LAMP stack
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic team
- Self-starter, capable of leading and owning a large aspect of the product
- Excellent communication skills (speaking and writing) in English
- BS or higher in Computer Science or related technical field
