Senior Backend Engineer – High-Growth Financial Platform

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our client's core engineering team in Hong Kong. In this role, you will lead the architecture, development, and scaling of high-availability backend platforms supporting modern retail financial products, real-time transaction processing, and digital asset integrations.

Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain high-performance microservices and backend applications using modern frameworks (Java / Spring ecosystem, with support for Python/multi-language services).
- Core Product Capabilities: Develop mission-critical platforms covering digital onboarding, payment/fund movements, user authentication/authorization, and high-volume transaction processing.
- API & System Integrations: Design and govern RESTful, gRPC, and event-driven integration interfaces across cross-platform systems.
- Modern Technologies: Support the expansion of next-generation features, including digital/virtual asset platforms, security protocols, and AI-assisted automation pipelines.
- Performance & Reliability: Lead system performance tuning, SQL optimization, distributed caching, and production issue investigations to ensure 24/7 stability and scalability.
- Engineering Best Practices: Conduct technical reviews, maintain clean CI/CD pipelines, and provide mentorship within an agile engineering culture.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of solid hands-on backend software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem) and familiarity with Python or other backend languages.
- Solid experience in Microservices Architecture and designing RESTful APIs or gRPC services.
- Practical hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) including query optimization and data modeling.
- Working knowledge of message queues and distributed caching platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis).
- Understanding of modern distributed systems, high concurrency, security standards, and CI/CD workflows.
