Senior Backend Engineer - Java/Spring (Hybrid, Milan) Stock

Welyk invites a senior backend engineer to shape and own the most sensitive components of the payment platform, taking designs through production and orchestrating cross-service collaboration in a hybrid Milan setting.

You will tackle bank integrations, risk and fraud services, and contribute to robust testing, incident handling, and reliable deployment strategies while mentoring peers.

Design and evolve the most sensitive systems of the payment platform, owning them from design to production. Contribute to services for bank integrations, risk and fraud prevention, where performance and reliability matter. Lead technical analyses that span multiple services and produce high-quality documentation for stakeholders. Ensure quality through solid testing strategies and safe rollouts. Handle incidents and production issues with debugging, monitoring and clear communication. Help junior and mid-level engineers grow, share knowledge and take part in the team's technical decisions. At least 5 years of experience as a backend engineer on production systems. Experience designing complex systems or features as the main contributor. Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices. Experience in cloud environments. Knowledge of Java or similar languages, with a willingness to master Java.
