The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in startup environments and enjoys building scalable systems from the ground up.

This role is ideal for engineers who combine deep backend expertise with a strong ownership mindset. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems while collaborating with a highly technical and fast-moving team.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Java and Python, enjoys solving complex engineering problems, and embraces AI-assisted development workflows to increase productivity without compromising quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.

  • Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.

  • Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.

  • Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.

  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.

  • Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.

  • Strong professional experience with Java and Python, building and maintaining production-grade backend systems.

  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.

  • Experience working with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.

  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.

  • Proven experience building, maintaining, optimizing, and improving products after launch.

  • Strong ownership mindset, autonomy, and ability to thrive in startup or fast-paced environments.

  • Advanced English level.

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and the ability to review, validate, and improve AI-generated code.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in product-focused companies, owning products beyond the initial development phase.

  • Experience in cybersecurity products or security-focused platforms.

  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems.

  • Experience building large-scale distributed data processing systems.

  • Background in high-growth startups or scale-ups.

  • Experience integrating LLMs, AI services, or AI-powered products.

  • Previous experience in large technology companies
