Senior Backend Engineer - Lending
Summary
Designs, builds, and end-to-end owns distributed, event-driven backend services for Lunar's lending and overdraft products, from architecture through production. The role involves system-design leadership, mentoring, and exploring AI in lending, with Go, cloud, and distributed systems experience favored.
You will design and build distributed, event-driven services for lending or overdraft products and own them from architecture through production. You will make reliability, performance, and delivery trade-offs, lead system-design discussions, review code, mentor engineers, collaborate across disciplines, and explore AI applications in lending.
Responsibilities
- Design and build distributed event-driven services for lending or overdraft products.
- Own services from architecture through production.
- Take end-to-end ownership of core lending domains.
- Make trade-off decisions involving reliability, performance, and delivery speed.
- Lead technical discussions about system design.
- Review code, mentor engineers, and provide technical direction.
- Partner with product, design, and risk functions to deliver regulated lending experiences.
- Explore applications of AI in lending decisions and customer experiences.
Requirements
- Have solid backend engineering experience and a proven record of designing and delivering complex systems at scale.
- Have strong experience with event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
- Understand the trade-offs involved in event-driven and distributed systems.
- Have experience with cloud technologies.
- Experience with Go is a significant advantage.
- Work autonomously in areas without established approaches.
- Experience with agentic engineering or an AI-driven software development lifecycle is an advantage.
- Experience in lending, credit, or financial services is an advantage.
- Undergo criminal-record screening where required by local regulations.
- Not be registered in RKI.
