Senior Backend Engineer (PHP/Python) – Data – Remote - up to £600 per day

The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join an established engineering team working on commercial and performance data systems.
This is a hands‑on Software Engineering role, working roughly 50/50 across PHP and Python. You’ll be working across two existing products – a PHP-based commercial platform and Python-based partner integrations.
The platform processes commercial and revenue performance data from a large number of partners, helping the business understand which sites, pages, campaigns and offers are performing effectively.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and improving backend functionality across PHP and Python
- Building and maintaining partner integrations
- Working with third‑party APIs and web scrapers to collect commercial data
- Improving the automation, reliability and accuracy of data flows
- Working closely with Data Engineering and Analytics teams
- Helping evolve reporting from monthly towards weekly and daily commercial insights
What We’re Looking For
- Commercial PHP experience
- Experience working with APIs/integrations
You don't necessarily need to be using PHP in your current role, but you must have enough previous commercial experience to get back up to speed quickly.

- Web scraping
- Snowflake
- Airflow
- AWS
- Experience with data-heavy applications
This is not a Data Engineering position – they’re looking for a hands‑on Software Engineer who is comfortable working with data rather than someone looking to move primarily into Data Engineering.
Contract
- 6-month initial contract
- Fully remote
- UK, Poland or Slovakia preferred; other European locations can be considered
