About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Backend Engineer to join their innovative team, working remotely from Mossel Bay. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable server-side logic and robust APIs that power their core products. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using modern frameworks and best practices. Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability and reliability. Write clean, well-documented, thoroughly tested code, and participate actively in code reviews. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes to minimize downtime. Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions to ensure long-term system health. Requirements 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development. Strong proficiency with at least one modern backend language such as Python, Java, or Go. Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases , caching strategies, and distributed systems. Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized deployments. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote , fast-paced environment.
