Senior Backend Engineer - Platform Insights
You will design, build, and evolve Go-based backend services for the Data Insights Platform and Siphon. You will own key architectural components, improve reliability and production readiness, and troubleshoot complex distributed-system issues. You will collaborate asynchronously on technical design, planning, code review, deployment, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve Go backend services for scalable data ingestion, transport, replication, storage, querying, and deployment.
- Own significant parts of the backend architecture for Data Insights Platform, Siphon, and the Query API.
- Shape system boundaries, reliability, throughput, operability, and maintainability.
- Contribute to replication, buffering, query-serving, and query-oriented storage systems.
- Drive production readiness and deployment across SaaS, Dedicated, and Self-Managed environments.
- Debug and improve distributed-system performance, scaling, failure recovery, and observability.
- Collaborate on technical design, planning, code review, and delivery.
- Use AI for implementation, debugging, investigation, and documentation.
Requirements
- Backend engineering experience in Go, including building and operating production services.
- Experience designing scalable, reliable systems for high-throughput or data-intensive workloads.
- Experience building APIs and service integrations, including gRPC or similar patterns.
- Experience with data platforms, data systems, event pipelines, or foundational infrastructure.
- Experience with ClickHouse or similar query-focused data stores.
- Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails or the ability to ramp up quickly.
- Experience with reliability, observability, performance, and deployment in production environments.
- Experience delivering platform capabilities across team boundaries.
