Senior Backend Engineer (Project Based)
Summary
Project-based senior backend engineer in Jakarta who reviews contract engineers' PRs, breaks features into tasks, and deputises for the Technical Lead with clients. Builds Laravel/Node.js APIs on PostgreSQL with CI/CD and AWS deployments for OJK-regulated clients.
Salary: Rp 6.000.000 – Rp 8.000.000 per month
Requirements :
6+ years building production backend systems with strong PHP (Laravel) and/or Node.js.
Solid relational database design and SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL), including performance tuning.
Experience reviewing code and leading a small team or workstream, able to cover for the Technical Lead at short notice.
Comfortable with Git workflows, CI/CD, and cloud deployment (AWS preferred).
Good grasp of secure coding (OWASP Top 10) and personal data handling.
OJK-regulated industry experience (insurance, banking, lending), React, ISO 27001/pentest remediation, Docker and IaC, message queues and object storage, NoSQL, and real-time streaming (WebSockets, Kafka).
Fluent in English; Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
Responsibilities :
Review and approve contract engineers' pull requests before they reach staging or production.
Break features into tasks, estimate effort in person days, and track delivery against the plan.
Design and build backend services and APIs in PHP (Laravel) or Node.js on PostgreSQL, owning the data model, migrations, and API contracts.
Deputise for the Technical Lead in client meetings, stand-ups, and technical decisions.
Maintain CI/CD, automated tests, and deployment standards on AWS with DevOps.
Apply security and audit requirements for regulated clients, and write short technical handover notes.
