Q Mobility focuses on providing sustainable and integrated smart mobility solutions to enhance the efficiency, reliability and convenience of transportation infrastructure, in line with Abu Dhabi's vision for progress and development.
Q Mobility manages, operates and develops Darb, Abu Dhabi's toll system, and Mawaqif, the emirate's public parking system.
Role Overview
We're looking for a senior backend engineer who's comfortable owning systems end-to-end. You'll build and scale services for high-traffic platforms, and you'll have a real say in how things are architected. This isn't a ticket-closing role – we want someone who thinks about the bigger picture and helps the team level up.
What you'll do
• Design and build backend services and microservices using Node.js and NestJS• Work with cloud infrastructure on Azure, Lambda, queues, temporal workflows and event-driven setups
• Handle the reliability side properly: retries, circuit breakers, and monitoring
• Build secure APIs and integrate third-party, government, and identity systems
• Review code and keep quality high, monitor logs, system performances etc.
• Turn business requirements into technical plans the team can actually ship
What we're looking for
• Around 5+ years building production software, with strong backend depth
• Solid hands-on experience with Node.js / NestJS and MongoDB, PostgreSQL.
• Good understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture
• Comfortable working with cloud platforms, ideally Azure.
• Experience integrating identity and auth systems (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, SSO) is a strong plus.
• A clear communicator who works well with product, design, and QA.
Nice to have
• Digital identity / SSI experience (DID, verifiable credentials, wallets)
• Background in transportation, fintech, or government platforms
• Familiarity with using Claude / coding tools in day-to-day work
