Senior Backend Engineer (React Native–capable)

Compensation: $72k – $108k • No equity

This role requires deep, verified React Native experience. If your background is primarily React web, native iOS/Android, or backend-only, this is not the right fit.

What you'll do

• Own backend services and APIs end to end — design, build, scale, and maintain them. This is real ownership, not integrating against APIs someone else owns.
• Lead on performance, scalability, and data modeling. Design schemas and queries that hold up under real production load, and fix the ones that don't.
• Contribute to the React Native app (~40% of the role). You're backend-first, but comfortable shipping mobile features alongside our mobile lead.
• Take features from idea to production with full ownership of quality — including what happens to them under load after launch.
• Help shape a clean, maintainable foundation as the product and user base grow.

What we're looking for

• 4+ years of production experience, with deep backend ownership at a senior level.
• Strong command of Node.js / TypeScript and MySQL. Real depth in relational data modeling, indexing, and query performance — you can talk through why a query blocks a database and how you'd fix it.
• A track record of building systems that scale. You can point to specific services you designed and specific performance problems you solved.
• Solid React Native skills — enough to own mobile features, even if backend is your strength. Modern RN (current version); no legacy-only profiles.
• Fluent, confident English (C1+), confirmed on a live call.
• Full-time focus on this role. No concurrent employment, client contracts on the side, or active startups. We're looking for one person, fully in.
• Based in the Americas / LATAM time zones for overlap with our team, or willing to work those hours.

Nice to have

• Experience with two-sided marketplaces or consumer social apps at scale.
• Comfort with AWS / DigitalOcean, CI/CD, and the React Native New Architecture.
• Apps or systems you can show us (App Store / Play Store links, or systems you can describe in detail).

Logistics

• Remote, full-time contractor
• $6,000–$9,000 / month, depending on experience
• Working hours with meaningful overlap with GMT-3 (Buenos Aires) and US Pacific
