Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Design and build high-performance, scalable, and maintainable Full-stack services in Java (Spring Boot), with clean APIs and solid test coverage.
• Build AI-powered product features, LLM-backed workflows, RAG over hotel and content data, agentic automations, and intelligent assistants, and take them from prototype to production.
• Define prompts, evaluation criteria, and guardrails for AI features, and measure quality, latency, and cost in production.
• Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, and similar) as a daily part of your workflow to raise your own and the team's throughput while holding a high bar on code quality and review.
• Drive the entire product feature lifecycle end-to-end (definition, implementation, and maintenance) while demonstrating sharp instincts for feature prioritization aligned with key business goals.
• Implement new features and proactively optimize existing code and queries.
• Build integrations with third-party systems like payment gateways, channel managers, and AI/LLM providers.
• Own services in production debugging, monitoring, performance tuning, and incident response.
• Work collaboratively with engineers to continuously elevate code quality, resiliency, and engineering standards across the team.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience; demonstrated background in an independent, self-motivating environment with strong full-stack skills across the storage layer, API layer (designing clean APIs with defined SLAs), and UI layer.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem and building RESTful JSON APIs.
• Ability to be super efficient in working with code and AI tools like Claude or Codex to rapidly accelerate development while maintaining high code quality.
• Strong foundation in core data structures and algorithms, alongside an understanding of fundamental database principles.
• Practical experience building with LLMs / GenAI, calling model APIs, prompt design, RAG, embeddings/vector stores, or agent frameworks.
• Proven productivity with AI coding assistants, plus the judgment to know when to trust, verify, or reject their output.
• Ability to understand, design, shape, and debug features in distributed systems environments.
• Comfortable on Linux/Ubuntu, proficient with Git, and familiar with AWS fundamentals.
• Good understanding of web technologies and strong backend debugging skills.
• Self-motivated and organized, able to handle deadlines and drive improvements.

Good to Have:

• Experience migrating services from Python to Java or running polyglot backends.
• Exposure to messaging systems.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Prior work in travel, hospitality, or high-traffic e-commerce.
