Senior Backend Engineer Trading and Connectivity

You will own systems connecting an exchange to external market participants and downstream systems. You will design and scale event-driven connectivity infrastructure with Kafka, gRPC, DynamoDB, and Redis; optimize order routing and market-data distribution; run production on-call; improve reliability, logging, deployment, and incident response; partner on rate limiting and protocol integrations; mentor engineers; contribute to hiring; and help set technical direction while delivering hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale distributed event-driven connectivity systems
• Process high volumes of events with Kafka, gRPC, DynamoDB, and Redis
• Optimize order routing and market-data distribution latency and throughput
• Run production on-call
• Lead reliability initiatives and standardize logging, deployment, and incident response
• Partner on order routing, rate limiting, and protocol integrations
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring
• Set technical direction while delivering hands-on
• Collaborate with exchange, markets, and infrastructure teams

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience
• Experience architecting high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems
• Expertise with event-driven architectures and Kafka, gRPC, DynamoDB, or Redis
• Experience running production on-call and driving reliability, logging, and deployment standardization
• Experience with order routing, rate limiting, protocol integrations, or equivalent mission-critical infrastructure
• Technical leadership through mentoring, hiring, or leading a small team
• Experience in trading systems, HFT, or latency-sensitive high-throughput domains is a plus
• Familiarity with Protobuf and cloud environments such as AWS or GCP is a plus
