Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript) - Digital Asset Super App "Startale App"

You will own the backend architecture and implementation behind Startale App, a digital asset super app used by 170,000 monthly users and growing toward millions. You will design, build, and operate scalable production APIs and backend services, high-performance distributed systems handling large-scale traffic, data pipelines, background workers, and event-driven architectures. You will build blockchain integration and indexing systems that ingest and process on-chain data, design efficient database schemas, optimize complex queries, and ensure long-term storage scalability. You will diagnose and resolve complex production incidents, performance bottlenecks, and scaling challenges while setting up observability, monitoring, and alerting. You will lead architectural decision-making, including the migration from a monolithic setup to an architecture supporting many features, and you will work daily with both large-scale Web2 systems and Web3 integrations such as wallets, indexers, and DeFi protocols.

Responsibilities

• Own the backend architecture and implementation centered on Startale App
• Design, build, and operate scalable production APIs and backend services for customer-facing applications
• Build and operate high-performance distributed systems that handle large-scale users and high traffic
• Build and maintain data pipelines, background workers, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures
• Build blockchain integration and indexing systems that ingest and process on-chain data for internal services and user-facing apps
• Design efficient schemas, optimize complex queries, and ensure long-term scalability of data storage
• Diagnose and resolve complex production incidents, performance bottlenecks, and scaling challenges
• Set up observability, monitoring, and alerting

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional work experience and advanced English proficiency (English is the official company language); at least 3 of the following requirements
• Experience building and operating backend systems supporting large-scale users and high traffic in production
• Experience technically leading the complexity of bundling many features into one app for a large-scale B2C product
• Knowledge of TypeScript and modern backend frameworks (NestJS, Fastify, Express, etc.)
• Solid understanding of API design, service-oriented architecture, and distributed systems design; ability to ship complex systems from design to production with minimal supervision
• Deep hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, query optimization, production database operations)
• Experience building systems that process large volumes of structured and event-driven data
• Experience setting up observability and monitoring, and operating production incident response and scaling
• Willingness and curiosity to quickly learn and absorb unknown domains (blockchain experience not required)
