6-Month Rolling Contract

Stelfox is working with a growing Dublin-based organisation seeking an experienced Senior Backend Python Engineer to join their engineering team on a long-term contract basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on business-critical platforms, designing and building scalable backend applications, APIs, and services that support key strategic initiatives across the organisation.

You'll be joining a collaborative Agile environment where you'll have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, contribute to architectural discussions, and help drive engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining high-quality Python applications and services
  • Designing scalable REST APIs and backend solutions
  • Translating business requirements into effective technical solutions
  • Collaborating with Product Owners, UX teams, Architects, and Software Engineers
  • Troubleshooting performance issues and improving system reliability
  • Participating in code reviews and mentoring junior developers where required
  • Driving continuous improvements across development and deployment processes

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of commercial Python development experience
  • Strong experience with Flask and/or Django
  • Strong SQL and relational database expertise
  • Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and development tools such as Git, Jenkins, Ansible, and Artifactory
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
