Senior Backend Software Engineer – AI-Assisted Development
Summary
Senior backend engineer designing and delivering scalable, high-performance backend services, owning solutions from architecture through delivery, with a 24/7 on-call rotation. Works with C#/.NET, Java, Go, AWS/Azure, Docker and Kubernetes, and is expected to heavily use AI-assisted development tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot in daily workflows.
Are you an experienced Backend Software Engineer who enjoys building scalable systems, solving complex technical challenges, and exploring how AI can transform the way software is developed?
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join an international technology environment and contribute to the design and development of high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend solutions.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who combines strong backend fundamentals with a modern development mindset. You’ll work with technologies such as C#/.NET, Java, Go, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, while actively leveraging AI-assisted development tools and agent-based workflows to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
🚀 What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design and develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services.
- Take ownership of technical solutions from architecture and design through implementation and delivery.
- Build and deliver new features following modern software engineering principles and development best practices.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, ensuring high standards of performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Implement and maintain automated tests to continuously improve software quality.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases, selecting appropriate technologies according to system requirements.
- Develop and operate solutions in cloud-native environments, working with containers and orchestration technologies.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams to make sound technical decisions and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Proactively identify technical challenges, propose improvements, and contribute to architectural discussions.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, supporting the reliability and availability of production systems.
- Keep the end user in mind when making technical and product decisions.
🤖 AI-Assisted Engineering:
AI is an important part of the development workflow, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable using it as a practical engineering tool.
You’ll be expected to:
- Integrate AI coding assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools into your daily development workflow.
- Use effective prompt engineering for code generation, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and technical problem-solving.
- Work with different AI models and understand relevant trade-offs, including cost, latency, reasoning capabilities, and context limitations.
- Use multi-turn AI interactions to iteratively refine technical solutions.
- Explore and implement agent-based workflows for areas such as code review, testing, debugging, and architectural decision-making.
- Use AI to accelerate prototyping, automated test generation, documentation, and performance analysis.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated solutions and understand when output needs to be validated, challenged, or redesigned.
- Ensure that the use of AI enhances productivity without compromising security, maintainability, reliability, or code quality.
What We’re Looking For:
Must Have:
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and highly available backend systems.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, algorithms, data structures, and Object-Oriented Design.
- Professional development experience with C#/.NET, Java, and/or Go, with the ability and willingness to work across the team's technology stack.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, such as Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and/or Azure.
- Hands-on knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).
- Strong understanding of automated testing and modern engineering practices.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of the software development lifecycle.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Availability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Education:
A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
However, we value demonstrated engineering expertise and practical experience. If you don’t have a formal degree but have a strong technical background and can demonstrate your capabilities, we’d still like to hear from you.
The Profile We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for more than someone who can simply write code.
You should be an engineer who enjoys understanding how and why systems work, takes ownership of technical challenges, questions existing approaches when necessary, and continuously looks for better ways to build software.
If you combine strong backend engineering expertise with cloud-native technologies and a genuine interest in AI-assisted software development, this could be an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career.
