About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding cloud solutions provider, is seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Software Engineer with expertise in cloud infrastructure to join their dynamic engineering team in Sandton, Gauteng . This role is crucial for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems and services that power our cloud offerings. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable backend services using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Build and maintain microservices architecture, ensuring seamless communication and integration between services.
• Develop and manage cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including compute, storage, and networking components.
• Implement robust APIs for internal and external consumption, adhering to best practices for security and performance.
• Optimize application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for scalability and efficiency.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to strict coding standards.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product managers to deliver high-quality features.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and drive technical innovation within the team.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and software development trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in backend software development, with a strong emphasis on cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their associated services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts and security best practices in cloud environments.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
