Senior Backend Software Engineer, Python
Location: New York Metropolitan Area | Hybrid
We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer to build and evolve the core platform services behind our data access intelligence engine. In this high-impact role, you will take significant ownership of the technical direction and architecture of a multi-tenant SaaS platform that processes millions of files and events every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Engineering: Build and maintain Python services for data discovery and processing.
- Data Processing: Develop scalable pipelines for file ingestion and content extraction.
- Database Engineering: Design schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data isolation.
- API Development: Develop and maintain APIs for internal and external integrations.
- Performance & Reliability: Ensure services are secure, reliable, and scalable.
- Code Quality: Write clean, tested code and contribute to reviews and documentation.
Required Experience and Skills
- 7+ years of Python backend development.
- Strong PostgreSQL and database optimization skills.
- Experience with messaging tools such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pub/Sub.
- Strong REST API and asynchronous development experience.
- Experience with multi-tenant architectures and data isolation.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, and security.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong testing skills, including pytest.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Django or similar frameworks.
- GCP experience (Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, GKE, BigQuery).
- AI/LLM integration experience (OpenAI or Anthropic).
- Familiarity with vector search and embeddings.
- Background in security, privacy, or compliance products.
