Our client, a prominent financial services institution, is seeking an accomplished Senior Backend Software Engineer specializing in Java to enhance their core banking systems team in Bloemfontein. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services that power critical financial operations. Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and efficient backend services using Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot).
- Build and maintain microservices architectures for new and existing applications.
- Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for relational databases (e.g., Oracle , Postgre SQL ).
- Integrate backend services with third-party applications and APIs.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to industry best practices.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality software.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technology selection decisions.
- Ensure the performance, security, and reliability of backend systems.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with a strong emphasis on Java.
- Extensive experience with the Spring framework, particularly Spring Boot.
- Proficiency in designing and working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle , Postgre SQL , My SQL).
- Experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, Rabbit MQ) is a plus.
- Understanding of microservices architecture principles and design patterns.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
