Senior Backend Software Engineer Python

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

• Advanced backend Python coding skills, including FastAPI
• Good understanding of system architecture, design and scalability
• Experience working on distributed systems
• Familiarity with AWS, infrastructure as code using Terraform, Docker, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and Blacksmith runners
• Collaborative and pragmatic approach with strong communication skills
• Keen to contribute to technical discussion and decision-making

• Own the orchestration engine that controls scheduling, execution, state, retries, concurrency, and cancellation
• Design for unpredictable workloads, solving challenges around capacity, back pressure, and isolation
• Build the AI native layer that will underpin the next generation of the product
• Own our infrastructure end-to-end, including writing Terraform
• Monitor what we ship and resolve issues in production
• Work across the full development lifecycle, taking features from idea through to production
• Collaborate directly with customers to solve complex real-world problems
• Use technical insight to influence the product roadmap
• Help shape engineering standards, culture, and ways of working within our small engineering team
